Welcome!! We decided to create this site as an easier way to share all of our adventures with our family and friends. We moved to Okinawa, Japan in August 2008 and plan to be here until the summer of 2011. We hope you enjoy our site and we look forward to sharing our adventures with you!

Couple more photos


In the upper left of the photo you can see the Kash Rud a minor river, it actually ahs some water in it this time of year, by mid summer after the snow melt ends it will be dry.

    Hi Karl, I know you were probably really glad to get a change of scenery -- this part of Afghanistan really looks desolate and bleak; about the same as where your base is. Mary, Oma's caretaker, lived in the Northern part of Afghanistan and she told us it is actually quite pretty up there -- nice and green. Couldn't quite make out what was in front of the guy in the picture until I enlarged it. Yikes! A very big machine gun!! That brought me down to earth and reminded me of where you really are and what you are doing there. With all this modern technology and the ability to communicate like we do, it's easy to forget that you are in a dangerous place. Please stay safe. Love, Mom
